Released May 2019
LaRose began as a collection of loose af jam sessions between Swedish journeyman Otto Decker and Amber Isles front-man Max Fotheringham at HQ Studio. Spontaneous demos popped out with no particular outcome in mind, and eventually a funky record began to take shape.
LaRose became an exercise in open direction without ties to any concrete image or deadline. The songs invite you to move and venture, to arrive and behold, and to move again if inclined. The EP stayed instrumental and emerged in the end as uplifting post-rock at heart with a warm pop-rock finish.
Double Single
Released February 2019
‘Pretty Girls’ hits stride right out of the gate with a surfer-rock punch. The track oozes nostalgia for the 90’s and boasts a ‘Blockbuster yellow' in the cover art. The song alludes to stereotypes around pretty girls; what is expected of them and how they can be perceived. It’s a fun tune which will get you dancing.
‘You Only Kiss Me in the Dark’ brings the funk times. This song swirls around a main riff and chorus before diving headfirst into a buzzy rockin bass solo at conclusion. Peny’s voice is full of feels as she croons to you the story of a lover who will only express emotion while in the darker corners of a relationship.
In these two singles, The Featherheads venture into a more confident rock and roll space, bringing together tight percussion, and catchy melodies

Released June 2018
Eighteen months since the release of their debut album Running, Amber Isles follow up with four-track EP ‘Habitat’. Written throughout 2017, the EP is about the spaces and environments we inhabit, the lives we lead and find ourselves in; physical surroundings, states of mind, and the passage of time as one habitat eventually becomes another just as present becomes memory.
The songs deal with anxiety, euphoria, relationships and family. Assessing where we are and how we arrived. Evaluating the things that matter and the things that can be let go. Addressing habits and routines, deciding their worth and our resolve to shed them.
‘Habitat’ opens with urgency and tension, moving toward ambient release and reflection, with glossy vocals, soaring brass and lead guitar surfing on melody-driven bass lines and expressive drums.
Recorded at HQ.
EP
Released March 2018
Debut EP from Brunswick natives The Featherheads. Front woman Peny Bohan has shaken off her acoustic folk past and is joined by her new band in embracing a darker, grittier electric vibe. The band have jumped onto the scene with a swampy, indie-folk sound, featuring stand up drums, electric guitar, bass and violin, as well as some rollicking harmonies. The Featherheads will immerse you in tales of want, need and a desire to gracefully stumble on into the future.
Recorded mostly live at HQ Studio, the EP is the culmination of a rocky year and a change in musical direction for Bohan. Always a storyteller, the songs on Howling are for the first time a direct reflection of her life and various emotions. A little bit intimate and a little bit raw, the EP voices the upheaval that we all feel when things change.
Double Single
Released February 2018
Northside post-rock shoegaze newcomers Middle Management are fresh off the press with back-to-back singles '21' and 'Return'. A solid debut, recorded in a double session at HQ studio in some 40 degree heat.
"Ill give you 21 reasons to get back in the car..."
Single (3-track)
Released July 2017
3-track single from Melbourne psychedelic four-piece The Midnight Sol. Recorded in part at HQ Studio and mixed and mastered out of Brussels Belgium.
LP
Released November 2016
Thirteen months in the making, Melbourne indie rock outfit Amber Isles drop their debut LP, tracked and sculpted in a purpose built studio entirely DIY and mixed and mastered out of Brussels, Belgium where the band was first conceived back in 2013.
Running is a journey in genre navigation and rich soundscapes. The album starts driving-beat rock steady, moves through escapism and euphoria and lands ultimately in more grounded and acoustic territory. Brass to boot.
